"How we combined product shots with real Berlin nightlife"

Client:

Panasonic Europe

Location:

Cassiopeia Berlin

Production Period:

17-18 August 2019

Scope:

Product Film

Technics is Panasonic's hi-fi brand, founded in 1965 and known for turntables, amplifiers, receivers, and speakers.

When we were commissioned to unveil the Technics SL-1210MK7, we treated the film as both a product reveal and a cultural statement. The brief called for two worlds in one piece: clean, controlled product cinematography and authentic Berlin nightlife—so the turntable's engineering details could sit alongside the people who actually use it.

We built the narrative around contrast. Macro shots and crisp mechanical close-ups were intercut with real DJ performances filmed at the Sample Music Festival in Berlin. The result was a dynamic short film that highlighted the SL-1210MK7's features while speaking directly to the DJ community through real protagonists, real rooms, and live energy.

The mix of urban atmosphere and performance footage became strong, credible assets for Panasonic's social rollout—product-first, but rooted in the scene.
