"How we created a musical parkour themed around "energy"

We were approached by one of Europe's leading trade fairs for entertainment technology with a clear brief: build an interactive installation that would make the theme of "Energy" tangible, playful, and memorable. It had to work for all ages and backgrounds and be fully accessible without any musical training.

ABX translated the idea of energy into sound, using dynamics, intensity, and rhythm as a universal language. We created an intuitive, hands-on setup built around MIDI controllers, modern synth engines, and tailored software tools, allowing visitors to shape sound in real time within seconds.

With a few gestures, participants triggered and layered energetic sonic elements, from sharp laser hits and pulsing engine patterns to explosive bursts and expansive cosmic textures. The experience was designed for immediate success: no instructions required, just step up and play.

Using a combination of midi controller, advanced synthesizer technology, and a variety of different applications, the enthusiastic participants seamlessly produced an array of invigorating sounds, including powerful lazer effects, pulsing engines, explosive nuclear bursts, and otherworldly cosmic tones, all of which perfectly captured the exhilarating sensation of boundless energy.

To amplify the impact, we curated live showcase performances featuring tracks built from the same sound palette and performed on-site. Across all four days, we also ran workshops that gave visitors a deeper look into sound design and interactive music technology.

The result was a constant point of attraction on the show floor and a shared experience that turned "Energy" from a theme into something visitors could actually hear, feel, and create.
